ACT Practicum is the clinical rotation section of the EMS courses. The
purpose is to provide the ACT student with a supervised clinical experience. The Practicum is
used to gain visual and psychomotor patient care knowledge in a hospital and ambulance
environment. There are numerous hours required throughout various hospital units and
community ambulance services. The goals of ACT Practicum is the completion of the clinical
competencies, patient assessments and the minimum clinical hours. These competencies are the
advance lifesaving skills and patient assessments encountered during advance life support level
of pre-hospital medicine.
