Short Description: Are you looking for ways to enhance your practice of teaching? Do you need to find new and exciting ways to engage your students? Our Student Engagement and Learning course explores the potential of formative assessment and techniques for improving student learning. We summarize key research on classroom formative assessment and show how these practices have a greater impact on educational achievement than most other reforms. Finally, practical techniques are discussed to help educators incorporate strategies into classroom practice.

Instructor Description: This course is instructor supported. The instructor for this course is Marissa Wilson, Marissa has seven years of preschool teaching experience in not for profit programs and large government organizations. She has worked with multiple age groups and trained staff on the use of technology tools, such as Teaching Strategies and SMART boards. Most recently, Marissa was a lead pre-kindergarten teacher with Head Start. She holds a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of North Dakota and is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Online Learning & Teaching from The University of Wisconsin-Stout.
