As an educator, this STEM for Teachers in Grades 4-8 course, offered by our accredited school partners, will help you create, select, and adapt quality STEM lesson plans that will energize and help your students grow academically and as individuals. This course covers how to assess students’ understanding of concepts and procedures, how to utilize project-based learning styles, and how to focus on your students’ creative side so they develop important critical thinking and collaboration skills. After completing this course, you should be able to:Recognize basic STEM concepts for the middle grades and why STEM is important for studentsRecall how to analyze and adapt practical STEM lessons into your curriculumIdentify the techniques for creating a STEM lesson and its impact on your studentsDescribe how to coordinate skilled trades with STEM, as well as how to design effective after school programs and include girls in STEM lessonsEnroll through one of our accredited university or college partners today!Instructor Description: This course is instructor supported. The instructor for this course is Erin Fouse, Mrs. Fouse holds a Masters in the Science of Psychology, a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the State University of New York at Potsdam. Erin spent 15 years as a public school teacher. She began her career teaching Spanish in grades K-8 before moving to a self-contained 4th grade classroom. Mrs. Fouse subsequently spent 10 years teaching the Academically Gifted students in the areas of Reading and Language Arts. While teaching, she served as the Chairman of Climate and Safety committee, she is a North Carolina State Certified Mentor for beginning teachers, and was Grade-Level Chair for 7 years.Certification: Not Applicable.
